Kettleness beach is located in a remote cove just to the east of Runswick Bay. Access is difficult and involves scaling down an uneven path with one hand on a tightrope while holding onto the rope, all while trying not to slip off or fall off rocks along the way! Kettle Lake this sandstone sea stack has been formed by underwater erosion thousands of years ago due to its location which gave it a perfect shape like a bowl for collecting water currents. Shell collectors can look forward to finds such as ammonites (a type of fossil)and many different kinds of dinosaur bones that were once ashore here but are now mostly deposited deep underwater sedimentary rock layer.:
