Inverboyndie is a long, sandy beach to the east of Banff from where it can easily be reached on foot or by car.
The Inverness-shire coast path passes right through this area and intersects with an old stone structure that was once used as partway marker between Portree (the nearest town) and Kyleakin at high tide; now there’s a small pier for fishing trips into deep waters!
Behind these rocks lies one end section – known locally simply “The Beach” though officially called Sandend Bay—and that stretches outwards another 3 km on either side before ending abruptly against rugged cliffs.
