The little cove of Barricane has a dark history. Local folklore says that these shells have travelled off the shore of an Atlantic island thousands upon miles across and somehow made it here, tumbling through rolling waves to rest on rocks near an inlet north Devon coastline- where you can find them today for sale at your local souvenir shack or along with cowries found throughout Europe as well! Despite its lack of lifeguards (there aren’t any), this beautiful spot is perfect for rock pooling enthusiasts.:
